Dr. Geffert is based in New York City working as Lead Data Scientist at the American media company Nielsen. Originally from Germany, he moved to the United Kingdom to work with the United Nations on using technology and data science methods in environmental conservation. He obtained a PhD from the University of Cambridge and has since worked with companies in London, Hong Kong, and New York, including large corporations such as Sainsbury's, small disruptive startups, and freelance consulting. Dr Jaclyn Harron is a Senior Data Scientist with Allstate Northern Ireland and is based at the Northwest Catalyst Innovation Centre in Derry/Londonderry. Jaclyn’s background is in statistics, having previously worked as a Statistician with the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. She holds a PhD from Queens University, Belfast. After I graduated in economics, I started my career in business controlling in manufacturing, transitioned to overseas branch management, and after a period as a research consultant, corporate trainer, and lecturer, emerged as a data scientist. Currently, I work in London as a data science subject matter expert, for a consulting company. I love the thrill of understanding the business use case, navigating data for finding insights that allow building actionable solutions, and translating the results back to the business users. I have a high interest in the application of operational research and analytics to business strategy and marketing; I consider myself to be an analytics translator. I enjoy managing and mentoring people, as well as applying research to gather insights, making proposals for improvement and deploying the action strategy.
