At the Data Science Foundation, we're dedicated to advocating on behalf of the data science sector not only to advance the interests of our members, but because we believe that big data is a vital consideration for all aspects of the future, including government.
We lobby government agencies and offices on behalf of the data science industry to ensure that they understand not only what data science can offer, but also emerging trends, new uses and the incredible importance of Big Data to the UK's businesses and enterprises.
Ministers, parliament members and committee members are not data scientists. Many have little formal training in the sciences at all. Therefore, it is our responsibility to advocate and educate government about what data science is, what it offers, and how it can provide benefits for not only the data science industry, but all sectors of the economy and the government itself.
Our goal is to influence associations, governments and other bodies in regards to formulating or updating polices in regards to promoting and usage of analytics in both the corporate sector and social development. These include:
In addition to our work with government, we also work hand in hand with the various industries across Britain. Our goal is to advocate and educate CEOs and other decision makers on best practices involved with data science, as well as the vast wealth of knowledge accessible and usable with these techniques. We're about more than just advocacy, though. We can work with organisations and businesses to foster new data science and Big Data initiatives that contribute to reaching specific, measurable, attainable goals.
At the Data Science Foundation, we believe it is incumbent upon our community to advocate, promote and foster better understanding and collaboration both within the data science community, and with the wider world, including the British government. Our commitment is to adhere to best practices, to work hand-in-hand with government organisations, committees and individual government members to enhance understanding and acceptance of data science, as well as to promote growth.
We strive to establish communication and contribute to innovation, to foster the birth and spread of new ideas, and to ensure that data science is well established in universities and other learning centres and institutions.
