Without support from the education sector, data science's growth will be slow, scattered and largely unsuccessful. The explosion of information available to business owners and decision makers today has made it vital to develop new ways to interact with that information. It must be analysed sorted, sifted, parsed, cleansed and then transformed into something usable. This is only possible with data science training and education.
At the Data Science Foundation, we believe that education is the single most important component in fostering the growth and spread of the data science sector. Without support from educators, the challenges of tomorrow cannot be met.
The Data Science Foundation is dedicated to working with universities, learning centres and other institutions in the education sector who provide data science education and data science certification to achieve a variety goals. For instance, we seek to visualise, create and grow new educational opportunities within big data, providing talented students with new options to pursue for their career success, as well as to build better, stronger businesses.
We focus on a wide range of related educational solutions, including linear algebra, computer programming, computer/information modelling, machine learning/languages, parallel programming, distributed databases, statistical analysis and more.
Without new educational paths, students and aspiring professionals lack a clear-cut path to success in the realm of data science. Considering the increasing importance of data analysis and extrapolation to industries across the world, it has become vital that new education options are created and made available to students. We work with universities and education centres to outline, define and then create these paths, providing our experience and advice in curriculum development in conjunction with guidance from leading British academics.
These courses will provide students with a firm ground in mathematics, statistics, computer science and probability, as well as the habits and skills necessary to enter the world of data science in a broad range of different industries.
The Data Science Foundation's Steering Committee is responsible for charting a course for the organisation as a whole. We believe that academics have a place on our committee in order to help us work within the education sector to advocate for and improve the available data science training, data science education and data science certification and related education options available to today's students and professionals.
We invite you to learn more about our efforts within the education sector, as well as our partnerships with leading academics, universities and educational centres throughout the UK.
