Winners Announced International Data Science Awards 2019
The winners of the 2019 Data Science Awards were announced at the AI & Big Data Expo North America in Santa Clara on 13 November 2019. The awards were launched in London in April and recognise best practice, innovation and excellence in data science and artificial intelligence.
The Data Science Foundation made awards in six categories, congratulations to the winners:

AI Innovation of the Year
Squirrel AI Learning

For its use of AI in creating an adaptive learning engine. The system creates a personalised learning experience and overcomes problems related to a lack of educational resources
Data Science in Healthcare
Bigfinite
USA
For creating a GxP compliant data science platform to improve manufacturing processes in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries
Data Science Technology
John Snow Labs
USA
For Spark NLP an open source text processing library that provides production-grade versions of the latest research in natural language processing
Data Science Writer of the Year
Dr Balakrishnan Subramanian
India
For his dedication to publishing interesting and informative work on the Data Science Foundation platform
Outstanding Contribution to Data Science
Doug Cutting
USA
Software designer, creator of Hadoop and Chief Architect at Cloudera. Doug has had a huge impact on data science, many of us have either used products he has created or have used products based on his work
