Invitation to publish and get noticed: What is a Use Case and why is it useful?
Use Cases enable business managers to understand how data science and advanced analytics could be applied to their organisations by providing real life examples of evidence-based decision making in action. The term Use Case refers to a list of steps or actions which define interactions between a role and a system to achieve a goal. It could be seen as a case study in general yet may not involve a human as many case studies do, especially when we focus in on big data, analytics and connected systems.
As a member of the Data Science Foundation you can submit your own use case for publication on our website. This will highlight your expertise, increase your organisations visibility and allow others to benefit from your knowledge. Members are encouraged to take advantage of the free publishing services we offer. We are here to help you if you wish to publish your work on our website, which we will then distribute for you though our social media networks and newsletters. As a professional body we are encouraging members to make use of our publishing facilities which will help you build your profile and connections.
More than likely, you will have relevant and engaging content at your fingertips which can be used to inform and impress peers and potential clients. We are inviting organisations to submit items for publication and we are especially interested in receiving use cases. The use cases we publish will contain 4 keys elements; the challenge, solution, outcome and a mini profile of you and, if applicable, your client. We appreciate how busy you are, so if producing the finished item is challenging, we offer editorial support at no cost. If you could provide a short brief with bullet points we can even write the use case for you. This will be return to you for proof-reading and amendments prior to publication. Once the completed use case has been published on the Data Science Website you are welcome to use the it in your own promotional material and on your organisation’s website. Our members appreciate the value of including links in their promotional material to professionally written, peer-reviewed documents which have been published on the website of a professional body.
An example of how our members are using this facility to build their profile and use the Data Science Foundation site in their promotional activity is shown here. This example shows Pivotal iQ’s ‘Published By’ page. All members are provided with both a Profile page and a Published By page. Our members are working with us to generate new business and to strengthen their profile in the data science and analytics sector. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get noticed and be recognised! In addition the content we generate is being shared across a variety of social networks on a regular basis and is considered for inclusion in our DataTalk monthly newsletter.
If you would like to develop your presence further, we can help with the production of articles and whitepapers. We are here to assist with any publishing challenges you may face; formatting, writing support and editing. Our mission is to help you to engage with this hugely expanding network of data scientists. Feel free to drop us an email or give us a call. We like to stay well connected with our members and assist in any way we can, and I hope I will be reading more about your fabulous work soon!
