THE WINNERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL DATA SCIENCE AWARDS TO BE ANNOUNCED AT THE AI & BIG DATA EXPO, SILICON VALLEY
The Data Science Foundation, Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the AI & Big Data Expo World Series have teamed up to promote the inaugural International Data Science Awards and confirm that the award winners will be announced at the event in the Santa Clara Convention Center in San Francisco.
The awards which recognise excellence and innovation in data science, artificial intelligence and advanced analytics have been created to be a global annual event. The awards competition will now be launched each year in London, will be judged by an international panel and winners will be announced at the AI & Big Data Expo North America. Entrants do not have to attend the event in North America to receive a trophy. Once the winners have been announced, the trophies will be shipped worldwide.

The awards promoter the Data Science Foundation is developing a global data science and artificial intelligence community and see the awards as a way to encourage best practice and knowledge sharing.
“The International Data Science Awards are a way to recognise the amazing things our members are doing with data, advanced analytics and AI”, says Chris Tomlinson, director and founder of the Data Science Foundation, “Profiling excellence in this way will help the participants win new business and will help in the development of new technologies.”
Judges have been drawn from across the globe and include industry leaders, authors, academics and educators from 10 countries, USA, China, Australia, Canada, India, Pakistan, Spain, UK, Holland, Zambia. These include experts such as; Kerry Sheehan, Chart.PR, Vice Chair of the #AIinPR panel and CIPR Council member, Dr. Wang VP of Data Science at PayPal, California, Dr Frank Soboczenski Computer Scientist at King's College London & NASA SpaceApps Lead and Dr Michael Baron Data Scientist, Author, Educator from Australia. The judges and the organisations they are connected to are not eligible to enter the awards.

Entries are invited from individuals, universities and both non-profit and commercial organisations. Entries must be submitted online via https://datascience.foundation/datascienceawards. Entrants must be a member of the Data Science Foundation to enter the awards. Membership is free of charge and provides a connection to the data science community along with a host of free membership, communications and publishing services.
An administration fee of £75 is charged per individual awards category entered. An administration fee of £125 is charged per organisational award category entered. A reduced entry fee of £45 is offered to registered charities and students. Multiple categories can be entered, but separate entry forms must be completed for each entry. * Data Science Writer of the Year. This award is presented to one of the ten category winners of the Data Science Writer of the Year Awards 2019, a https://datascience.foundation hosted competition, and is based on contributor and rating points accrued during the year.
** Outstanding Contribution to Data Science. This award is based on nominations received from members and will be awarded to the person or organisation deemed to have made an exceptional contribution to data science over a prolonged period.

There are 9 judging panel consisting of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 judges. (The Data Science Writer of the Year Award is subject to a different judging process).
3. Data Science Foundation
The Data Science Foundation is a professional body representing the interests of people working in the data science, AI and advanced analytics sector. The foundation encourages the socially and environmentally responsible use of data and artificial intelligence in all spheres towards better society. This is reflected in our Code of Conduct which all members must agree to before membership is granted.
Membership consists of data scientists, organisations that use data science in business operations, suppliers of data and analytics services as well as universities offering data science courses and their students. The Data Science Foundation is creating an active community of data scientists and provides online systems to collaborate and share research and best practice.

Nominations for these awards can be made by the individual or a colleague, and agencies / organisations can submit multiple entries.

About CIPR Artificial Intelligence (#AIinPR) Panel
The CIPR Artificial Intelligence (#AIinPR) panel was founded in February 2018 to explore the impact of artificial intelligence on public relations and the wider business community. The panel has established an international reputation as a centre of excellence for promoting knowledge and understanding of AI.
The panel is undertaking five projects in 2019:
- A research paper exploring the application of AI to the professions based on a literature and contemporary paper review.
- The launch of the #AIinPR tool website
- The development of an international network of third-party sources to improve AI knowledge and expertise amongst CIPR members.
- A series of guides on the application of AI in PR and the media.
- Support for CIPR regional and sector groups with content and speakers on #AIinPR. In 2018 the panel led events in Scotland, North East and London.
